Sunset at Dana Biosphere Reerve

Sunset at Dana Biosphere Ecolodge.

We are staying at The Feynan Ecolodge, situated in the Dana Biosphere Reserve, the largest nature reserve in Jordan with hsitory dating back 6000 years.

Its rugged beauty is especially evident as we hike to a nearby ridge to photograph the evening sunset. It is a short uphill trek past Bedouin encampments and their small herds of goats as the sun begins to fall lower into the western sky.

We assemble at the top of the ridge as the sun hangs low in the sky. We find a good spot, setup and watch as the sun begins to set.

As the sun sets we snap... and capture the spectacular colors of the setting sun....

As the sun sets in the west the moon rises in the east....

Back at the lodge we make our way to the rooftop where Soloman, aka The Starman, shows us the constellations in the night sky, here in the middle of the reserve, undiluted by city light.

He hauls out a telescope and shows us first Jupiter and then the moon. Taking our cellphones he shows how to take a picture of the image through the lens of the telescope...

Ok... now you have to admit that is pretty cool!!   I set up my own tripod and see if I can capture the moon with my camera and my biggest zoom.  Its not the telescope but it still captures the moon.

That's a wrap.... Come With Me.... let's see how the Bedouin do morning coffee...
